Pictured here is a high temperature, pusher style ceramic sintering furnace for
silicon carbide and some other non-oxide ceramics. The furnace incorporates a
variable speed pusher, atmospheric debinding surface; high temperature sintering
furnace, in-line cooler and boat return mechanism. This system is fully integrated
mechanically for automatic operation and electrically with full PC based control
and data management. Precision gate valves and cold wall design allow for optimized
atmosphere management: 1) better flow patterns in the hot zone and 2) lower
inert gas usage for sintering. This system is designed such that vacuum can
be applied to individual sections as the use of vacuum is required for good operation.
The variable speed pusher allows for: 1) controlled acceleration/deceleration product
transport and 2) partial simulation of the uniform exposure typical of a slow moving
belt furnace.
